Position Duties
Duties of the Natural Resources Engineer include:
• Reviews Invasive Plant Species Management Program applications, revegetation plans, permits; ensures technical accuracy and quality of information; conducts field site visits to identify critical environmental areas; and applies good engineering practices and applicable regulations in the Zoning Ordinance, Land Subdivision and Development Ordinance (LSDO), Facilities Standards Manual (FSM), and the 2019 General Plan;
• Prepares written plan correspondence and maintains information in the County's land management system, LandMARC;
• Assists customers with the completion of permit applications and other required forms;
• Provides clear and accurate information regarding permit and plan applications to applicants, builders, developers and staff on status, problems, and resolutions. Provides technical information and support to managers, planners, and other staff members; and
• May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate creative and strategic approaches to problem solving and the ability to work independently or on a team. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, both orally and in writing, to include preparing reports, giving presentations, and expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience. The candidate should have excellent research skills and the ability to use sound judgment to solve problems and issues with minimum supervision. Knowledge of GIS is preferred but not required.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Pass criminal and DMV background checks.
This position may require the candidate to work beyond the normal workday as required to attend Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, or other special meetings. In addition, this position may be required to work in an outdoor environment during varying types of weather (hot or cold).
