Description

General Summary: This position is to primarily deliver patient care by preparing treatment area, patient, equipment, and materials; performing procedures, under the supervision of a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and/or a physical therapist and to coordinate schedules for PM&R Technicians.
    
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

General Requirements: All duties performed will be done accurately and in a timely manner. 

1.    Assumes responsibility for maintaining clinical competencies according to Gonzaba Medical Group policy.
2.    Ensures customer service is always maintained at the highest level. 
3.    Exercise tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, providers, and co-workers.
4.    Must always adhere to customer service expectations including in-person and virtual (via telephone, or telehealth applications) communication. 
5.    Participates in educational programs as needed.
6.    Other duties as assigned.
    
Essential Job Responsibilities:    
1.    Assist and support Therapy Techs with their daily duties.
2.    Ensures that appropriate coverage is maintained at their location.
3.    Provides training and Inservice within the department and conducts collaborative working relationship with the Department Supervisor to accomplish goals and objectives.
4.    Coordinates Weekly Team Huddles and or Staff Meetings in collaboration with Department Supervisor. 
5.    Responsible for setting up patients on modalities, guiding and supervising the patients during active rehab.
6.    Responsible for the preparation and cleanup of the therapy bays for treatment. 
7.    Responsible for cleaning and maintaining equipment in the department.
8.    Answer incoming phone calls when necessary. 
9.    Responsible for maintaining proper level of inventory on needed supplies. 
10.    Acts as a backup for other personnel within the department.
11.    Maintain strict confidentiality of medical and departmental information.
12.    Schedule patients for appointments when required.
13.    Forward treatment notes to the proper individual for billing.
14.    Assist coordinator with purchasing of medical supplies when required.
15.    Must always keep the patients’ safety a priority, which will involve preventing potential falls as needed. 
16.    Other duties as assigned.

 

Work Environment: Primarily treatment and exercise rooms. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions related to medical setting.
    
Mental / Physical Requirements: High level of physical demands including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and stooping. Helps lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. Must be able to transfer/transport patients safely. Occasional stress during heavy workload peaks.

Qualifications


Education and Training: Minimum high school education or equivalent. Certificate of completion from an accredited school for Physical Therapy Technician, Physical Therapy Aide Specialist, Medical Assistant, or closely related program, preferred. CPR certification is required and must be kept current. Bilingual speaking in English and Spanish is not required but is highly preferred. 

    
Experience: Experience in a clinic, doctor’s office, or hospital with a minimum of one-year experience preferred.  
    
Other Requirements: Computer Skills: Skilled in use of computer/EMR systems. Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet, and database software.
