Job Title: Mountain Access Specialist
Department: Guest Services
Status: Seasonal (FT & PT)
Reporting To: Guest Services Manager/Leads
Position Overview:
As a Mountain Access Specialist at Powder Mountain, you'll be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience from the moment they arrive. You'll play a crucial role in managing mountain access, providing essential information, and upholding our commitment to exceptional guest service, all while thriving in an exciting outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome Guests: Actively greet every guest with a friendly and positive demeanor, setting the tone for their mountain experience.
- Manage Mountain Access: Efficiently monitor guest tickets and passes, ensuring proper mountain access while maintaining smooth and organized lift lines.
- Provide Expert Information: Be a go-to resource for guests, offering accurate information about resort services, products, sales locations, and mountain wayfinding.
- Resolve Issues: Skillfully address guest inquiries, troubleshoot RFID card issues, help with Bluetooth issues and calmly de-escalate situations when necessary, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Maintain Safety & Efficiency: Monitor and maintain safe snow levels in lift line mazes, optimize maze layouts for maximum efficiency, and promptly report any emergencies or accidents.
- Operate Equipment: Utilize and troubleshoot Line Control Module (LCM), hand scanner hardware, Axess gates and understand our online sales portal to assist guests effectively.
- Uphold Our Values: Embrace and promote Powder Mountain’s Mission, Values, Service Essentials, and all company policies and procedures.
- Navigate the Mountain: Safely ski or snowboard designated routes to and from assigned chairlifts.
Requirements and/or Qualifications:
- Ski/Snowboard Proficiency: Intermediate or above skiing or snowboarding ability, with the capability to pass an assessment and ensure your personal equipment meets safety standards.
- Guest-Focused Mindset: A positive attitude, adaptable approach, and a genuine desire to provide excellent service.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues with RFID cards, Bluetooth tickets, Axess gates, LCM’s and hand scanners.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to articulate information clearly to guests and colleagues. Must be able to control the lift line with assertiveness, friendliness and respectful tone. Must be able to follow radio protocol.
- Availability: Ability to work weekends, nights, holidays, and varying shifts (early mornings/late departures) with consistent reliability and punctuality.
- Reliable Transportation: A dependable way to get to and from work (personal vehicle or public transportation).
- Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older.
Physical Requirements:- This role is physically demanding and performed primarily outdoors. Candidates must be able to:
- Perform a full range of body movements including reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying objects up to 50+ lbs.
- Stand, walk, bend, and twist for prolonged periods in extreme and inclement weather conditions (rain, snow, ice).
- Possess strong sensory abilities (sight, hearing, touch, and smell) with good vision for close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Navigate challenging terrain, including even/uneven/slippery surfaces and stairs/ladders.
- Have manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment.
Working Environment:
Expect to work primarily outdoors at high altitudes (up to 9,000 ft) in varying conditions including extreme temperatures, sun, wind, snow, rain, and noise from moving equipment. Appropriate layering is essential.
