Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist with experience machining plastic components in a high-mix, low-volume production environment. This role involves frequent setups and operation of CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts from a variety of plastic and/or metal materials. The ideal candidate thrives on variety, has strong technical aptitude, and takes pride in delivering high-quality, one-off and short-run parts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup, program, and operate CNC and manual lathes to produce precision plastic components according to blueprints and specifications.
- Handle frequent part changeovers and short production runs, optimizing setup times.
- Make adjustments to tooling, inserts, and speeds/feeds for plastic-specific machining.
- Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, etc.) to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Troubleshoot and correct machining issues specific to plastics, such as material deflection, melting, or surface finish.
- Maintain accurate documentation of setup sheets, programs, and inspection records for repeat jobs.
- Work closely with engineering and quality teams to improve processes and support prototype development.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and ensure work area and machines are clean and safe.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC milling experience, preferably in a job shop or plastic machining environment.
- Understanding of machining plastics—including material behavior, fixturing considerations, and chip control.
- Ability to work independently on short-run or prototype work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, tolerances, and GD&T symbols.
- Experience with multi-axis or live-tooling CNC lathes (e.g., Haas, Mori Seiki, or similar).
- Familiar with machining tight tolerance plastic parts (±0.001" or better).
- Comfortable assisting with fixture design and setup optimization.
- Prior experience in a regulated or quality-driven environment (e.g., ISO 9001).
Work Environment:
- Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying temperatures.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Hands-on role requiring standing, manual dexterity, and occasional lifting of materials or fixturing.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs repetitively.
- Strong emphasis on quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
- This position may involve exposure to, but is not limited to, the following materials: acrylic, polycarbonate, FR-4 epoxy glass, GPO (I, III, III) polyester glass, HDPE (high-density polyethylene), glass epoxy, G9 melamine laminate, copper, brass, and aluminum
Schedule:

- 2nd Shift – 2 pm to 10:30 pm
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly wage/salary based on experience.
- We offer excellent wages and comprehensive benefits including Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Paid Holidays, Vacation, and 401(K) with Employer match up to 4%.
