TITLE: School Nutrition Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor Degree Service in Food Management or Nutrition preferred, or combination of Bachelor Degree and relevant work experience, if degree is not food service related. (USDA requirement)
- Minimum of five years management in school food service. Proven ability to provide leadership to others in a food service production and meal service environment.
- Must possess skills in developing and planning meals that meet USDA Nutrition Guidelines.
- Working knowledge of requirements of federal, state, and local agencies governing child nutrition programs.
- Ability to analyze situations and make firm decisions based on that analysis.
- Ability to make, and/or accept change with little or no difficulty.
- Ability to work as a member of an organizational team.
JOB GOAL: To develop and analyze menus to insure compliance with federal rules and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops training programs and materials for all aspects of a cafeteria operation, as approved by School Nutrition Director in accordance with the SNS program.
- Conducts workshops and trainings for cafeteria staff (ex. ServSafe, On Site Review, HACCP, production sheets, etc.).
- Supervises, coordinates, and conducts school site-based employee and manager training.
- Evaluate trainees' success towards learning objectives during class and on-the-job post training.
- Provides training and support for new managers.
- Conducts cafeteria evaluations/assessments to determine policy and procedural compliance, operational efficiency, and/or identify areas for improvement for management and/or cafeteria staff.
- Assist with school cafeteria operations as needed.
- Assists staff with countywide projects and staff development as needed.
- Communicates effectively with the public.
- Assures a positive atmosphere and image of the School Nutrition Program.
- Keeps abreast of current developments in school food service and shares with other School Nutrition staff.
- Develops standardized recipes to be used in the School Nutrition Program.
- Develops and analyzes menus, and submits documentation to DPI for compliance.
- Assists with Free and Reduced Lunch Applications, as needed.
- Performs other assigned duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to perform basic life operational functioning of lifting, climbing, reaching, standing, fingering, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
- Must have hand and finger dexterity for accurate computer functions.
- Auditory acuity at a level to communicate effectively with customers and employees in direct conversation as well as by telephone.
- Visual acuity to read and analyze information in hard copy or on computer screens.
- Must be able to express and exchange ideas effectively by spoken word.
- Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- Must be ServSafe certified and be/become a ServSafe Proctor.
