Registered Nurse (Psychiatry) PROS

Department: Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS) Location: Brooklyn - Canarsie, NY

Registered Nurse (Specialization in Psychiatry)

Program/Department: PROS (Personalized Recovery Oriented Services)

Work Location: 1310 Rockaway Parkway, Brooklyn NY 11236

Hours: Two days a week from 8 AM to 4 PM (weekends not available)

Salary Range: $45.00/hour - $50.00/hour

Position Summary:

Brooklyn Community Services PROS is a strengths-oriented psychiatric rehabilitation program devoted to helping adults increase independence and general well-being. The program nurse assists people living with persistent mental illnesses in maintaining their wellness through medication administration and ongoing health screenings. Working in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the nurse aids program participants in identifying an individualized, meaningful course of care to become as healthy and self-sufficient as possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer all intramuscular (IM) psychiatric injections, as directed by the prescribers

  • Independently manage injection appointment schedule, in collaboration with the prescribers

  • Distribute injection appointment schedule on a weekly basis to counseling and support staff

  • Coordinate with partner pharmacy to ensure timely delivery of injectable medications

  • Conduct individual health assessments upon admission to the program and yearly thereafter

  • Evaluate need for participant hospitalization or other emergency medical care, as appropriate

  • Facilitate medical workshops to program members, i.e. diabetes prevention/management, nutrition, tobacco cessation, etc.

  • Provide medical trainings to staff

  • Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor�s Degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required; screening against the GSA, OIG, and OMIG lists of persons disallowed from working in Medicaid funded programs.

  • Experience administering injections

  • Experience serving individuals with severe/persistent mental health diagnoses preferred
