Position Overview: High School Teacher- Physical Education and Health
Hours/Day: 1.0FTE
Days/Year: Teacher Contract
Compensation/Benefits: Burnsville Education Association Contract
Primary Responsibilities: - Develop and deliver engaging curriculum lessons in health and physical education aligned with school standards.
- Promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal health awareness among students.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular sports, fitness activities, and health awareness programs.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all students, regardless of skill level.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school staff to support students’ overall well-being.
- Stay updated on current health trends, physical education methods, and safety protocols.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe environment during activities.
- Integrate health education topics such as nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, and sexual health into lessons.
License / Education Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license for health and physical education
- Prior experience in teaching or coaching is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and engage students
- Knowledge of current health and fitness trends and safety procedures
