Position: Instructional Teacher Aide - General Education
Location: River Forest Public Schools, D90
Starting Date: August 15, 2025
Salary: $28,290

(b) Successful instructional aide experience is preferred in regular education or special education.
The General Education Teacher Aide will support classroom instruction by working closely with the lead teacher to assist in delivering lessons, managing classroom activities, and helping students succeed academically and socially. This role requires strong time management skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and a genuine passion for helping young learners grow.
The General Education Teacher Aides play a key role in students’ success as they help students engage in learning activities and navigate peer relationships throughout their day. While some students may need 1:1 support throughout their day, other students are provided additional support during identified times of the day & that assistance may be 1:1 or in a small group.
Responsibilities of the General Education Teacher Aide may include:
• Previewing and reinforcing classroom lessons & skills
• Assisting with instruction in small groups and 1:1 settings
• Facilitating positive peer interactions and relationships
• Utilizing school behavior management programs
• Assisting with students’ executive functioning needs
• Supervision and support during lunch/recess and arrival/dismissal
• Attending to students’ unique personal needs
• Establishing and maintaining positive, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders in support of creating a positive school community
The General Education Teacher Aide is to integrate D90 practices around equity and inclusivity into daily work and relationships with students, families, and colleagues. They will also attend to other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher, Building Principal, Director of Special Education or Superintendent.
