DISTRICT/SCHOOL CLIMATE COORDINATOR

NATURE OF WORK
High level management and professional position requiring a wide variety of skills relating to survey instrument development, implementation, data collection and analysis, presentation of findings and dissemination of results internally and to external agencies; ability to provide guidance and direction in the effective surveying of different groups including students, parents, and educators; Serves as the Chair of the Schools Climate Committee; Serves as Title IX District Coordinator and District Safe School Climate Coordinator; Responsible for ensuring the District follows all state and federal laws, regulations and district policies to prevent, address and resolve all matter of bullying, harassment, discrimination and gender equity as they relate to students. Responsible for the oversight of school-based Title IX and Safe School Climate Coordinators.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Merge the survey process for the annual School Learning Environment and Central Office Effectiveness Surveys, including survey instrument development, implementation, data collection analysis, presentation of findings, and dissemination of results internally and to external agencies.
Offer guidance and direction in surveying different groups, including students, parents, educators, and school administrators.
Serve as the Chair of the School Climate Committee, comprised of a representative group of district parents, teachers, and principals.
Facilitate the acquisition of an independent third-party vendor and maintain external relations directly relating to district surveys
Provide comprehensive training to personnel assigned to administer surveys at respective school sites.
Provide feedback surveys and assistance to Parent University for parents, workshop leaders, speakers, and volunteers.
Guide survey development and results analysis for SPED and other district departments as needed
Participate in and provide data for multiple district-wide committees observing student behavior, attendance, and parent and student engagement, such as APR, District wellness, and Safe School Climate.
Facilitate the creation of surveys for central office-based personnel.
Participate in the ongoing development of Focus, a city-wide data warehouse.
Provide data for Superintendent meetings with various stakeholders, including principals and the New Haven Board of Education.
Provide data presentation for the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendents, and various performance and learning review teams.
Provide data as needed for Youth Stat.
Provide data for external partners such as the Rand Corporation, Nellie Mae, Office of School Choice, and Enrollment.
Assist the Title I Coordinator with bullying and harassment reports.
Serve as an information resource to SchoolNet users and troubleshoot user issues for the Client Solution Helpdesk
Provide web-based and telephone support to SchoolNet users, including principals, district administrators, and teachers.
Perform on-site SchoolNet trainings for teachers and instructional managers as requested.
Conducted data collection and documentation for evaluation and measurement of outcomes.
Assist the District Test Coordinator during state testing administration to implement testing policies and procedures appropriately.
Assist in training school-based test coordinators for all state testing and the Smarter Balanced Assessment.
Coordinate the district assessment printing.
Collect and report school-level participation rates for all district-administered curriculum assessments.
Special data analysis projects as assigned
Prepare and submit timely state reports, and prepare data to be included in federal reports.
Maintain accurate files on all reported cases.
Attend meetings with parties involved in allegations.
Work with principals and building coordinators (one in each school and program)
Arrange a mandatory district workshop for all building coordinators.
Present and review district policies with members of the Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools, and principals.
Compose policies and procedures handbook for staff, compose forms, and other aids to ensure the district complies with the law.
Serves as the district’s Safe School Climate Coordinator
Assist the school in implementing the district’s Safe School Climate Plan.
Receive and analyze data regarding reports of bullying and harassment.t
Meet with school climate specialists at least twice during the school year to review and discuss issues relating to the overall school climate and make recommendations to the school climate plan.
Coordinate annual staff training on bullying prevention and harassment.
Report annually the number of verified acts of bullying reported by each school to the SDE
Performs other related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in public or business administration or a related area. Requires 3 to 5 years of experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting; experience working with diverse populations and various groups of students, parents, administrators, and the community;
      Knowledge of how to conduct surveys
      Knowledge and training in civil rights law
      Ability to analyze and solve problems, exercise good judgment, and work independently
      Ability to lead and manage projects and teams, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
      Ability to organize work in an efficient and effective manner
      Ability to create policy manuals and reports
      Ability to effectively communicate in written and oral form

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month position; Local 3144; Salary Range 9 ($70,596 - $111,670) SPECIAL FUNDS
