About the Role:
The CK Prep Cook plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen within the hospitality industry. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients, assisting chefs, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace to support timely meal service. The Prep Cook contributes to the overall quality and consistency of food by following recipes and safety standards meticulously. Working closely with kitchen staff, the role demands attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ultimately, the Prep Cook helps create an exceptional dining experience for guests by supporting the culinary team in Katy, Texas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety standards.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a team environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar kitchen role.
- Food Handler’s Certification or equivalent food safety training.
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment and tools.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork.
- Experience working in a fast-paced hospitality or restaurant environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and measure ingredients according to recipes and instructions from chefs.
- Wash, peel, chop, and portion vegetables, fruits, meats, and other food items.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep area, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
- Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and storage of food items.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
- Support kitchen staff during busy periods by performing additional tasks as needed.
- Dispose of waste properly and assist in maintaining overall kitchen sanitation standards.
Skills:
The required skills such as food preparation techniques and adherence to safety standards are essential for daily tasks like chopping, measuring, and organizing ingredients efficiently.
