About the Opportunity:

We are looking for a Quality Manager at our Taylorville, IL Plant. The target salary range for this position is $100,000-125,000 plus eligibility for a Short Term Incentive Plan at a 12% max.  This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship.

 

Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for maintaining and managing Quality Management Systems and procedures for our Taylorville, IL Plant. Overall responsibility over Plant quality both in-process and finished products. Product portfolio consists of different grades of Filtration media.


Essential Function and Main Responsibilities:

  • Maintains quality system procedures (ISO9000) and lead operative Quality Control team 
  • Actively participates in the training, audits and development of the quality system in the plant
  • Responsible for overall plant quality both in-process and finished product
  • Responsible for product approvals through issuance of PPAP’s, Control Plans, FMEA’s and customer specific requirements. 
  • Formulates test and inspection methods, evaluates their appropriateness, and sets control limits. 
  • Assumes responsibility for assuring that customers’ quality requirements are met by assuring that appropriate tests are performed properly on all production runs.
  • Manages claims from customers and provide technical support through 8D reports and problem-solving tools (such as 5W, Ishikawa analysis, etc.)
  • Understands and evaluates customer needs as well as process capabilities in order to prevent defect causes and anticipate possible claims.
  • Manages, coordinates and develops the quality personnel in the plant. 
  • Supervises the Quality Lab Technicians by making recommendations regarding performance ratings, etc. 
  • Coordinates and maintains the laboratory equipment and procedures including gage R&Rs, calibration and replacement.
  • Instructs and facilitates the use of problem solving techniques and tools ranging from trend charting, formalized problem solving, standard operating practices, designed experiments to statistical process control. 
  • Reviews and updates customer specifications and internal specifications in the plant.
  • Assists Sales, Technical, Manufacturing and R&D to find solutions that will lower internal waste and external claims.
  • Assists in the development and execution of the Process / Product Improvement Plans with production and product development personnel.  
  • Supports the continuous improvement efforts in the plant as required.


Experience/Education:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience within Quality from relevant Manufacturing
  • Experience from similar process industries preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree


Required Competencies:

  • Knowledge of process improvement programs and continuous improvement systems
  • Work requires moderate level of independent judgment and is subject to direct supervisory approval
  • Able to maintain and build close and effective relationships at various levels of organization, networking skills inside / outside of the company
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • Business thinking aptitude including customer orientation and experience from working within customer interface
  • Fluency in English, working knowledge in other languages desirable
  • Excellent organizational, leadership and communications skills
  • Willingness to travel. Domestic and occasional international travel up to 15% of the time
