GENERAL STATEMENT

Provides general office support for the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center Director, and office staff Children’s Programs. Performs a variety of light administrative functions including answering the telephone, monitoring guest through the gates, scheduling appointments, arranging meetings, drafting correspondence, and maintaining office supplies. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Serves as first point of contact with office visitors, staff, and families who call, come in person or email for assistance. With timely assessment, determine the appropriate area of referral, when necessary.

 

  1. Provide basic information, within position, to requests and follow-up or get appropriate help.

 

  1. Provides general clerical administrative support to all levels of IPCDC personnel.

 

  1. Distributes and monitors incoming and outgoing correspondence for IPCDC, including checking IPCDC general inbox daily and respond or determine appropriate area of referral when necessary.

 

  1. Types memorandums, forms, labels and other documents with accuracy.

 

  1. Operates a computer, copier machine, calculator and other office machines efficiently and where applicable.

 

  1. Assist in preparing cash for deposit and assist with delivery of deposits to Associated Students Business office, when assigned by supervisor or IPCDC administration.

 

  1. Files hardcopy and electronic files as needed.

 

  1. Prepare documents as requested. I.E. newsletters, basic mass emails for center communications.

 

  1. Maintains inventory and neatness of children’s library, repairs books; manages check out system. 

 

  1. Performs other job-related functions as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

No experience necessary. CSULB student enrolled in 6 or more units and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0.


Knowledge and Abilities

Working knowledge of modern office methods and practices. General knowledge of data processing and personal computer operations is preferred. Exceptional customer service skills are a must.   Ability to prepare work independently; must possess good verbal and written skills and good organizational skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to communicate and analyze situations in the most appropriate manner.   One year related experience preferred.  General knowledge and understandings of the organizational structure of a university and some working knowledge of University policies and procedures preferred.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

 

Schedule

Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week with the flexibility to cover up to 20 hours per week as needed.

 

Live Scan

Appointment to this position is contingent upon successful completion of a fingerprint background check (live scan).
