We are currently in search of a Medical Technologist for our Laboratory in Moraine, Ohio.


General Summary of Duties:

Performs diagnostic testing following standardized procedures on patient samples which aid providers in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.  Resolves problems and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits.  Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.  The job relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Performs a variety of tasks.   


Essential Functions:

1. Performs daily QC and maintenance of equipment per lab protocol before patient diagnostic testing is performed.

2. Performs and interprets technical laboratory procedures including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, immunology and various miscellaneous procedures.  

3. Reports results following standard operating procedures for patient specimens, proficiency samples and quality controls.

4. Reports test results following laboratory protocols drawing special alerts to providers and/or nurses on “Critical” results.

5. Ensures quality control in collecting specimens, and in ensuring appropriate sampling and records.

6. Maintains supplies as needed.

7. Comply with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, infection control.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

9. The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position.


Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology

Experience: 5 to 10 years as a generalist in a clinical laboratory environment.

Requirements: ASCP or AMT certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Knowledge of:

1.Medical laboratory principles, standards, applications, tests.

2. How to use and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.

3. Safety, infection control policies, and regulations.

Skills in:

1. Following appropriate testing procedures.

2. Proper equipment uses, preventive maintenance and repair.

3. Appropriate quality control and confidentiality procedures.

Ability to:

1. Exercise independent judgment, decision making, and discretion in reporting and distributing results.

2. Establish and maintain cooperative relations with vendors, patients, and staff.

3. Organize effectively and work quickly with a high level of accuracy.
