MEDIA LIBRARIAN

Location: Culver City, California


Primary responsibilities:

- Barcode all incoming media assets and enter in library database

- Check out blank tapes/cards for field shoots and retrieve all tapes/cards following a shoot

- Download air check files and burn to Blu-ray for archiving

- Retrieve and track media assets to and from cold storage


Associated responsibilities:

- Ensure metadata accuracy on raw media by consulting with post producers and executive

producers when metadata is missing, contradictory, or incomplete

- Check out media assets to cold storage periodically throughout the year in order to maintain shelf

space onsite

- Maintain stock of SD cards, hard drives, Blu rays, CDs, and DVDs for post production use

- Make DVD/Blu-ray duplicates on request

- Digitize VHS and other tape formats to DVD for archiving or screening purposes

- Archive shooting logs, department hard drives, and other physical assets

- Assist members of the post dept. with production needs as time allows

- Train under assistant editors for redundancy as needed


Requirements:

- BS/BA in communication, film/TV, library science, business, or related discipline

- 2+ years of experience in production or post production, or as administrative assistant in any field

- PC proficiency; experience with MS Office, especially Excel & Access

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Good with data entry: low margin of error and ability to structure a process with cross-checking

to reduce errors

- Highly organized, able to recognize and implement patterns of organization that are most efficient

for maintaining company assets

- Able to work in a largely self-directed environment with prompt follow-through and good time

management

- Familiarity with tape formats and post production workflow a plus
