About the Department
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applicants for the position of Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Coach to direct, organize and administer all aspects of the IUP Cross Country and Track and Field programs. The Director of Cross Country and Track and Field will build a nationally competitive program at the Division II level and create a quality student-athlete experience in academics, athletics, and community service. About IUP Indiana University of Pennsylvania, founded in 1875, is a vibrant, comprehensive, research-based, teaching-focused, student-centered learning community and is home to 9,254 students from 48 states and 64 countries. IUP students’ study across 160+ associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Main campus is in Indiana, Pennsylvania, just an hour northeast of Pittsburgh. IUP Athletics is a premier Division II Athletics program, competing as a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Duties:

Position Duties
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of coaching experience, OR
- One to three years of professional coaching or professional playing experience.
Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
Minimum Qualifications
This position is heavily involved in outdoor activity and has periods of heavy exertion. Incumbents must have the following abilities:
- Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
- To work under a variety of adverse weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and snow.
- To be able to work extended hours under adverse conditions in response to emergency conditions.
- To work in hazardous situations such as around moving heavy equipment, in and around traffic, at heights, on steep grades, and on ladders and uneven surfaces.
- Employee must be able to observe and react to hazardous warnings, back-up alarms, flashing lights, voice commands and hand signals.
- To perform manual laboring duties such as lifting and carrying various weights.
- Setting up, operating, testing, and measuring equipment.
- Using hand tools such as hammers, pry bars, and taking and transporting material samples.
- Work often requires stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
- To withstand exposure to chemical agents, exhaust gases and lubricants, solvents, poisonous plants, animals, and insects and potential injuries such as bruises, scrapes, cuts, strains, and sprains.
- To wear all types of required protective gear such as a hard hat, footgear, hearing and eye protection, gloves, and respirators.
