JOB SUMMARY:
Performs basic patient care activities under the direction of a licensed nurse.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal care assistance to patients.
• Monitors patients and collects information to be documented in the medical record.
• Perform bedside testing as necessary.
• Perform basic patient care.
• Maintain constant communication with nursing staff regarding patient conditions and changes in status.
• Maintain proper documentation in accordance with department and facility standards and requirements of regulatory bodies.
• Ensure delivery and assistance with patient food trays and other nourishment.
• Collect and deliver specimen to appropriate areas including laboratory, transport x-rays and other equipment as necessary.
• Perform basic clerical duties as required.
• Ensure cleanliness of unit, equipment and work area.
• Inventory and maintain supplies and equipment as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• As assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:
• Basic nursing.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.
RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
? Education – High school diploma or equivalent.
? Work Experience – Less than one year in an acute or long-term care setting preferred.
? Training – Completion of a CNA training program.
? License/Certification – Current New Mexico Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required. Current BLS required.
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
