The Prince George’s County Office of Central Services is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a General Clerk 4G (General Clerk 4G), grade G12, in the Deputy Director Business Operations Division.


About the Position

This is senior level advanced clerical work. Incumbents in this class are responsible for performing the more complex and advance clerical assignments. Responsibilities may include leading and training subordinate clerical personnel in the performance of a variety of clerical functions within a unit or a division.                                                                                                                          

About the Agency

The Office of Central Services administers centralized support services for the County Government, including facilities operation and management, contract administration and procurement, fleet management, real estate, construction, administrative services and small, local and the minority business development

Position Duties


  • Greets visitors, answers inquiries concerning specialized functions of an office or agency.

  • May train and lead subordinate level clerical personnel in performing various clerical processes.

  • Reviews and edits data prepared for entry into automated systems.

  • Screens consumer complaints; advises consumer of various avenues upon which to obtain remedy.

  • Processes incoming mail and/or packages within one hour of receipt, ensuring proper distribution to office staff.

  • Types routine letters, memoranda, reports, etc. from drafts.

  • Analyzes computer printouts, compiles and tabulates data and prepares related reports.

  • Codes, enters, and retrieves information in alpha, cross reference or numerical file as required in establishing filing system

  • Performs other tasks within the scope of the role and responsibility level as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Must have experience at the General Clerk III level equal to the length of the probationary period
OR
  • Six (6) months of experience performing diverse clerical tasks 
  • One (1) year of education above the high school level which includes coursework in computer data entry, secretarial subjects or business administration
 Any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience may also be accepted

Conditions of Employment:  Upon selection, the candidate must:

  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. 
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties, if applicable.
  • Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings, where applicable.
  • Be willing to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
