As a Double Backer Operator, you’ll play a hands-on role in running one of the most critical parts of the corrugator line. You’ll set up, monitor, and adjust the double backer section to help convert recycled paper into high-quality corrugated sheets. This position is key to keeping production moving smoothly and meeting customer quality standards.
Shift: 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM) — Must be available for overtime and occasional weekend work as needed
Starting Pay: $18.57/hour – Eligible for pay increases at 90 days and 6 months based on performance and attendance.
What You’ll Do
- Set up bridge guides and glue stations correctly before runs
- Load and splice paper rolls, ensuring correct size and grade
- Adjust for tension, alignment, adhesion, and warp throughout the run
- Trim paper only as needed for splicing
- Clean starch pans, glue rolls, and keep the double backer area clean
- Record production, safety, and quality data accurately
- Submit maintenance requests and support equipment upkeep
- Assist the Corrugator Operator and help train dry end team members
- Follow production schedules and suggest improvements
- Follow all safety policies and keep your area organized and hazard-free

What to Expect on the Job
- You’ll be on your feet for most of you shift. This includes standing, walking, bending, kneeling and regularly or moving up to 40 pounds
- You will work near moving mechanical parts and in an environment where noise, vibration, and airborne particles are common
- The facility is not climate controlled, which means it can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hearing protection, protective footwear, and safety glasses must be worn at all times
