Sanders Beach Rentals, a premier vacation rental management company serving the Gulf Coast, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to join our team in our Dothan, AL office. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliation, monthly close processes, and financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate tracking of property revenues, owner payments, fees, and expenses, while also supporting audits, budgeting, and compliance activities. All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional care and genuine service, upholding the gold star stand set by Sanders Beach Rentals. The Senior Accountant reports to the Director of Accounting and works closely with the operations, reservations, and maintenance teams to ensure accounting processes align with business practices unique to vacation rentals.


What You Will Do

  • Reconcile all company bank accounts daily, ensuring all deposits, withdrawals, and transfers are accurately recorded and supported with proper documentation.
  • Generate and distribute daily financial summary reports detailing cash activity, bank balances, and sales performance across all revenue streams.
  • Conduct monthly profit and loss (P&L) analysis to evaluate financial performance, identify anomalies, and provide insights into variances or irregularities.
  • Collaborate on the annual review of company profitability across all operational areas to inform strategic planning, budgeting, and cost management initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly owner statements, ensuring all financial activity is clearly presented, thoroughly documented, and aligned with company standards.
  • Review and approve work order pricing prior to billing, verifying accuracy and appropriateness before inclusion on owner statements.
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records and owner profiles within internal accounting and property management systems.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for owner financial communications, providing clear explanations, timely responses, and proactive insight into statement activity.
  • Generate and evaluate monthly financial reports to identify trends, assess performance at the property level, and support owner portfolio analysis.
  • Process operating expense payments in accordance with company timelines, ensuring vendors are paid accurately, promptly, and with proper documentation.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of company credit card activity on a monthly basis, verifying appropriate coding, categorization, and policy compliance.
  • Oversee invoice entry and approval workflows within the invoicing system, ensuring timely processing, accuracy, and accountability at each stage.
  • Oversee company fleet operations from an accounting perspective, maintaining accurate records of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, maintenance history, and repair expenses.
  • Monitor and report on fleet-related financial performance, including cost efficiency, utilization trends, and profitability metrics.
  • File monthly sales tax returns for rental revenue in accordance with state and local requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.



Keys To Success

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and trust accounting practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks Online.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.



Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • CPA candidate preferred 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Occasional extended hours during month-end, audit periods, or tax deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to Santa Rosa Beach, FL office as needed
