PURPOSE STATEMENT The job of Special Education Instructional Assistant III is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional assigned self-contained classroom comprised of students with significant cognitive delays, physical, al program within emotional, educational, or behavioral needs, or in a general education classroom that includes students with these needs; acting as a learning resource; assisting in supervision, care, and instruction, assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; and providing information to appropriate school personnel. This job reports to the Assigned Supervisor.

Instructional Assistants/Paraeducators, whether general education or special education, are required by law to be able to demonstrate knowledge of, and the ability to assist with, instruction, reading/language arts, and mathematics, either by possessing an Associate’s Degree or higher, 48 semester college units, or passing a minimum proficiency exam.

Every candidate hired is expected to implement inclusive practices in order to ensure all students receive their education in the general education setting to the maximum extent possible. 182 Days / 16 Holidays / 11 Months 4.5 hours/day, 5 days/week Hours: TBD Annual master's degree stipend and/or doctorate stipend, pro-rated by FTE if applicable. District Contributions - District Medical/Dental/Vision Plans: MEDICAL: District pays 80% of the Kaiser Single Party Premium or 80% of Kaiser Two Party Premium for those selecting a "Two-Party" or "Family" Coverage Plan. For Employees opting out of the District Medical Plan, Cash-In Lieu is paid at 20.5% of the Kaiser Single Rate pro-rated by FTE. DENTAL: Dental Benefits through Delta Dental are not part of an open enrollment plan. Classified employees pay into a Single, Two Party, or family plan pro-rated by FTE.
