Hybrid Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds bei River Edge School District

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High School Diploma or GED

• Educational Facilities Manager Certification

• Black Seal License Required

• Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the inspection, cleaning, maintenance and repair of fixtures, furniture, buildings, grounds and equipment.

• Knowledge of Pest Management 

• Knowledge of AHERA

• Valid NJ Drivers’ License

• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Responsibility for developing and maintaining a quality program of uniform building and grounds.
• Organizes, schedules, directs, and supervises the work of the custodial staff in daily, periodic and annual work and vacation schedules  
• Develops work plans for cleaning and maintenance work and develops effective work methods.
• Keeps accurate running inventories of custodial and ground supplies and equipment.
• Accepts deliveries of school supplies and equipment; prepares all clerical records required; prepares budget needs for custodial, grounds, and maintenance supplies and equipment; approves requisitions for all related supplies.
• Directs the custodial staff in snow removal during snow emergencies.
• Will be present during plan inspections by board members, administrative staff, medical staff and state officials.
• Assists in the training of personnel and their selections.
• Develops and updates the 5-year maintenance plan and state-mandates forms.
• Responds to emergency maintenance calls.
• Acts as district coordinator for integrated pest management.
• Works with outside vendors when necessary.
• Is responsible for ensuring compliance with all State and Federal codes related to buildings, grounds, and air quality.
• Is required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems.
• Perform other duties that fall within professional competencies when directed by the School Business Administrator.
• Evaluate the performance of employees under his/her supervision.
• Perform minor repairs to furniture, equipment, buildings and grounds.
• Act as an advisor to the administration for contract service and repairs.
• Recommend methods to correct conditions which cause waste in the use of such utilities as heat, electricity and water. 
• Assure maximum security safeguards for buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Act as substitute custodian in cases of absence. 
• Attend Buildings and Grounds committee meetings of the Board of Education when  requested. 
• Any other duties as may be assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 month position with a Salary Range of $85,000-$105,000 per year
