The Salisbury Central School seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Physical Education (PE) teacher to join our dynamic team of professionals. Position: 1.0 FTE Physical Education teacher for students in grades EK-8.

Job Summary:
The PE Teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a comprehensive physical education curriculum that promotes physical activity, health, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This role requires fostering a positive and engaging environment where students of all abilities can participate, learn, and develop lifelong healthy habits. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with faculty to support student well-being and contribute to the overall school community.

About SCS:
SCS is part of the Region One School District. Our school is located in the northwest corner of Connecticut. We are a small PK-8 public school located in the heart of Salisbury, where students are leaders in their learning. The Town of Salisbury/Lakeville is a place where people come to enjoy life in a New England country setting. The schools are excellent, and the virtues of small-town life still exist.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with CT Certification in Physical Education (044), Pre-K through Grade 12.
Previous teaching experience with elementary/middle school-aged children is preferred, but not required.
Ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
Evidence of organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion.
Superior oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to demonstrate and participate in physical activities, including running, jumping, stretching, and other athletic movements.
Ability to stand, walk, or move around for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment (e.g., sports gear, gym equipment) weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel to engage with students during activities.
Adequate vision, hearing, and motor coordination to supervise students in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Ability to work in various weather conditions during outdoor activities (heat, cold, rain, etc.).

Salary and Benefits: Per education and experience described in the Salisbury Central School Faculty Association CBA.
