Location: The Riverside Church in the City of New York (New York, NY)
Reports to: Minister of Congregational Care and Older Adults
Department: Minister Parish Life
Schedule: Part Time, 10 hours per week
Pay Range: Stipend, Monthly Payout
Start Date: At earliest convenience
Job Summary:
The Spiritual Care Associate assists the Minister for Congregational Care and Older Adults in providing compassionate spiritual counselling and emotional support to individuals across all stages of life within the congregation. This role involves pastoral care, visitation for home bound or sick congregants, support on care team trainings, retreat facilitating and collaborating with clergy and lay leaders to nurture the spiritual well-being of congregants.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Offer one-on-one spiritual guidance, prayer, and emotional support to individuals and families.
• Visit congregants or residents in hospitals, assisted living, or during times of crisis.
• Provide grief counseling and bereavement support.
• Assist in planning and support for memorial services when needed.
• Document pastoral visits and spiritual care interactions.
• Meet regularly and collaborate with the Minister for Congregational Care and Older Adults on programming, training and care given to congregation.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of care.
