Description
Make, alter, repair, and fit garments based on guidance provided Seamstress Section Head and Tailor Shop Manager. This job is a civilian position and does not require military service (including commission and enlistment)
Schedule - Monday-Saturday
Pay - $17.00/hr
Job Type - Full-time in-person
Requirements
- Sew garments and alter garments using needles and thread or sewing machines
- Examine tags on garments to determine alterations that are needed
- Assemble garment parts and join parts with basting stitches, using needles and thread, or sewing machines.
- Remove stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers or razor blades
- Maintain garment drape and proportions as alterations are performed
- Sew buttonholes and attach buttons to finish garments
- Put in padding and shaping materials
- Operate hand and/or power machines
- Other duties as assigned
Skills
- Finger Dexterity - The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
- Arm-Hand Steadiness -The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position
