Position Summary:
The Office of Campus Life is committed to maintaining and enhancing an extraordinary student experience through housing, activities, clubs and organizations, and enhancing cocurricular opportunities.
A Head Resident Assistant (HRA) is a senior student leader that supports the Community Directors by providing mentorship to Resident Assistants (RAs), assisting with administrative duties, and helping manage day-to-day operations of the residence halls. This role combines peer leadership, community development, policy enforcement, and emergency response to ensure a positive and supportive living environment for all residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a peer mentor to Resident Assistants
- Facilitate Campus Life committees (Social media, Facilities, Recognition etc.)
- Support RAs with problem-solving, programming ideas, and policy enforcement
- Assists residents with transition to university and residence hall life.
- Enforce university and residence hall policies and regulations
- Remains available to residents while on duty in designated areas
- Perform rounds during duty shifts to ensure safety of residents during the evening
- Provide designated programming as outlined in the manual
- Become familiar with and abide by the RA manual
- Assists in supervising residents and responding to complaints, reports, requests, and emergencies
- Submits reports on infractions, violations, and safety issues
- Promotes Campus Life events and programs
- Inform residents about relevant campus and local activities
- Facilitates mediation of disputes between residents
- Facilitate weekly staff check-ins or team meetings in collaboration with professional staff
- Organizes and directs regular floor meetings
- Supports residence hall team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Campus Life staff
Qualifications:
- Maintain a full-time student status at Post University with at least 12 credits per semester
- Have and maintain a cumulative 2.75 grade point average
- Have been a Resident Assistant for at least 1 year at Post University
- Leadership experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to get along with students of various cultures and backgrounds
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent leadership and public speaking skills
- Proven organization and logistical skills
- Ability to respond to and assess urgent situations
