Job Summary:
The Acquiring Settlement & Reconciliation Manager manages the development, implementation, and execution across acquiring ISO/merchant risk, reconciliation and compliance functions. In accordance with card brand rules and/or standards (ex: Visa Ecosystem Risk Programs Guide), develop and implement appropriate acquiring risk/compliance program to ensure effective risk/compliance oversight of ISO/third-party agent and merchant activities.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement appropriate acquiring risk policies/procedures, processes, and supporting documentation to identify ISO/merchant risk, review and remediation activities, key risk indicators, and risk/compliance reporting.
- Oversee and direct settlement/reserve reconciliation processes and remediation activities to address issues; ensure proper reconciliation documentation, review, authorization and escalation protocols.
- Manages operating framework for merchant monitoring activities, processes, transaction rules, and escalation protocols.
- Oversee and direct ISO residual reconciliation and risk-based billing activities.
- Coordinates ISO/merchant risk reviews, drives remediation of acquiring risk issues and/or findings.
- Ensure compliance with acquirer and card brand rules; interfaces with card brand and internal audit/compliance teams on acquiring-related issues; ensures timely response and remediation activities of ISO/third-party agents.
- Supports and advises the Third-Party Risk Management function for the onboarding and annual review processes for ISO’s participating in the bank’s sponsorship program. This includes guidance and direction related to KYC/KYB, AML, and CDD requirements. The role ensures that each organization has the appropriate structure, governance framework, and operational processes in place to meet regulatory expectations and internal risk standards.
- Work with processors to ensure access to systems and delivery of data files/reporting to effectively manage acquiring program.
- Prepare operational and risk reports, dashboards, key metrics to ensure business, operational and risk management objectives.
- Identify people, process and technology enhancements to improve operational efficiency, recommend technology solutions (via third-party solutions or internal development) pertinent to acquiring risk and compliance activities.
- Serve on relevant bank committees and prepare/present performance and risk presentations related to acquiring and payment processing activities.
- Support and lead response and remediation activities related to internal and external audits and regulatory exams of acquiring activities.
- Manage team workload, prioritize duties, ensure service delivery/response on issues/incidents in a timely manner or within established SLA’s.
Background & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field is ideal, but not required.
- 5+ years’ experience in acquiring/merchant program risk and compliance operations related to merchant monitoring, settlement reconciliation and compliance functions.
- 3+ years’ experience in managing/supervising acquiring staff (risk/transaction monitoring analysts, settlement/recon analysts, card network compliance analysts).
- Working knowledge and experience with TSYS processor systems,CBOS, TSYS files and parsing residual files, including familiarity with 3270 TSYS green screens.
- Familiarity with merchant monitoring solutions such as Legit Script, G2 and other similar service providers.
- Knowledge of card network rules, e-commerce/retail payment processing, merchant billing, merchant application/agreements, merchant pricing concepts.
- General knowledge/familiarity with BSA/AML (Transaction monitoring, CIP, Sanctions Screening) as it relates to acquiring activities.
- Self-starter, detail-oriented and ability to prioritize all tasks appropriately.
