Description
General Carbide Corporation located in Greensburg, PA is hiring a full-time Purchasing Manager. This position will work with key personnel to ensure all key Supply Chain functions are met for subcontracted parts and will be responsible for driving/implementing purchasing process improvements to support business goals with emphasis on cost down initiatives, inventory management, and continuity of supply.
The primary focus of this position is to manage all commercial and supplier-related activities. This position requires excellent project management skills and interpersonal skills, working hand in hand with engineering, product development, marketing, manufacturing, and material planning to ensure the success of all business initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the purchase requisition process
- Issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy
- Negotiates pricing, delivery dates and PO terms and conditions as required.
- The management of the physical inventory process. This includes pre-inventory setup meetings, scheduling, preparing inventory sheets, coordinating input and analyzing discrepancies.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of designated team including but not limited to purchase order processing and management, supplier interface, rush order processing, new supplier on boarding, international supplier process, expediting, workflow and personnel issues.
- Facilitate supplier cost opportunity assessments with focus on continued quality, delivery and productivity improvements that lead to better service and cost reductions
- Develop and drive acceptance of preferred suppliers and coordinate supplier reviews
- Work with engineering and site operations to support testing and approval of new product & cost reduction initiatives
- Facilitate and evaluate Manufacturing Alerts and Engineering Change Notifications to ensure timely implementation and minimize materials obsolescence
- Provides periodic report cards as needed for top suppliers.
- Creates reports of key performance indicators for executive management every month.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field. APICS/ISM certifications highly preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain operations (industrial/commercial) with a strong understanding, credibility, and comfort to work with frontline operations management and cross-divisional, cross functional teams. Sourcing contract administration and negotiation experience highly desirable. Prior supervisory experience is also preferred.
- Strong analytical skills. Process driven and attention to detail
- Successful with driving results within a manufacturing organization.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems as related to purchasing
- Knowledge of Syteline, ShopTrak a plus
