OBJECTIVE: Utilize drafting standards and practices to develop full building plans and designs. The Architectural Drafter II will be responsible for performing advanced, complex BIM assignments, coordinating multiple complex assignments and assisting the project team with efforts for effective execution of project design.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Produce construction documents, including drawings, schedules, and reports, directly from Revit under the direction of the Senior Architectural Drafter or Architectural Design Specialist.
- Create and maintain 3D models and details for residential and commercial buildings using BIM software (i.e., Revit and AutoCAD)
- Assist the Senior Architectural Drafter or Architectural Design Specialist with developing and mentoring the drafting team
- Adhere to design standards and processes set forth by SCS
- Collaborate on design concepts for new and existing building designs
- Update portfolio building plans in response to code changes and company feedback
- Research and interpret current state regulations and codes to effectively apply them to designs
- Gather data as project necessitates and work closely with Senior Architectural Drafter or Architectural Design Specialist as well as Civil, Structural and MEP professionals
- Adhere to project timeframes and deadlines set forth by Senior Architectural Drafter or Architectural Design Specialist.
- Assist with technical drawing revisions and requests for information
- Assist with plan submissions and shop drawing verifications
- Assist with drafting work associated with maintaining software component libraries
- Collaborate on standard operating procedures within design to initiate process improvements
- Collaborate and create BIM content
- Perform regular model reviews and quality checks to ensure adherence to project standards and client requirements
- Support BIM data collection, design, management, and visualization initiatives
- Complete necessary calculations to support the design intent, including but not limited to occupancy, allowable area, REScheck, COMcheck, light and ventilation, etc.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Associate degree in architectural design or a closely related discipline
- Valid driver’s license
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in the use and operation of Autodesk Revit or AutoCad
- Working knowledge of plans and specifications
- Very good problem-solving, organizational, time management, and decision making skills
- Very good written, verbal & visual communication skills with colleagues and clients of all levels
- Very good planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced and multitasking environment, with the ability to coordinate this information across disciplines

PREFERRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
- 3 years of experience in residential (multi-family) a plus
- Previous experience with wood framing construction
- Previous experience with construction standard and compliance inspections and report-writing
- Knowledge of panel and truss manufacturing
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods, typically 6-8 hours a day
- Ability to maneuver around a job site during all phases of construction
- Ability to lift 30lbs
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidate will be given a two-hour assessment where candidates modify a pre-built Revit model to show their understanding of wall types and construction. This position requires ability to work 40-45 hours per week Monday – Friday 8a-5p, with occasional hours outside of that range as business necessitates. Ability to travel to off-site locations as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position reports to the Senior Architectural Drafter or Architectural Design Specialist and operates in a professional office setting.
