About the Role
Delta Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team. This role is integral to ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of medications throughout our hospital system. The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for inpatient drug distribution, outpatient dispensing, and the overall control of pharmaceuticals within the facility. The position also supports medication compounding (sterile and non-sterile), clinical consultations, and staff education.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret physician orders for accuracy and therapeutic compatibility.
- Prepare, compound, package, and label sterile and non-sterile medications.
- Monitor drug therapies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Oversee and verify pharmacy technician workflow, medication prep, and order entry.
- Educate hospital staff through clinical programs and ongoing training initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal drug laws and maintain accurate records of controlled substances.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide medication reconciliation and patient discharge counseling.
- Perform medication therapy management under a collaborative practice agreement.
- Support quality assurance projects and audits as directed by the Director of Pharmacy.
- Share on-call responsibilities with fellow pharmacists.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (required)
- Licensure: Must hold a current Colorado Registered Pharmacist license
- Preferred Experience:
- Hospital pharmacy residency or equivalent hospital experience
- Familiarity with Unit Dose, IV Admixture, TPN, and pharmacokinetics
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience highly desirable
