Job Description:
Regulatory Reporting:
- Prepare regulatory/financial reports with a high level of accuracy making sure that information complies with Rules and Regulations set up by the organization, International Accounting Standards, government entities, and Industry Regulators.
- Timely prepare regulatory reports before the internal and external deadlines set up by supervisors, regulators, and external auditors to avoid fines and penalties. This includes daily Risk Adjusted Capital (RAC), Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs), and Annual Form1.
- Perform reconciliation of regulatory reports to general ledger, interaction with other teams, (e.g. Operations, Product Control, Corporate Accounting, and IT) and regulatory margin service provider to resolve discrepancies.
- Continuously review brokerage and financial reporting systems to ensure data integrity and reliability of information for management and strategic decisions.
Process Improvement:
- Participate in special projects including testing and approving of reports for new products, data accuracy/integrity, process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
- Work with Regulatory Reporting Director to identify and assist to remediate risk and control issues including capital adequacy, financial and/ or operational risks.
- Document Regulatory Reporting Policy and Procedures.
Provide Supporting Services to Generate Revenue:
- Collaborate with cross functional teams such as Operations, Sales, Trading Desk, and Compliance on daily/month-end basis to provide timely and accurate financial information required to achieve the organization’s objectives.
- Responsible for daily Risk Adjusted Capital (RAC) computation to ensure the firm meets the minimum capital, profitability, and liquidity according to IIROC regulations.
- Assist to review Insurance policies adequacy.
Industry's Rules and Regulations Insight:
- Diligently conduct appropriate research of current rules and industry regulations in Canada in a professional manner with the best judgement and given the surrounding circumstances.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Regulatory or Accounting professional experience working in a Canadian Broker Dealer
- Knowledge of CIRO/IIROC regulations, securities trading (Equity, Fixed Income and Derivative products), securities financing (Repo, Securities Borrowing/Lending) and Underwriting
- Solid understanding of financial statements and financial risks
- Ability to meet tight competitive deadlines
- Strong analytical, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Able to multitask efficiently and effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly proactive, resourceful and collaborative
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA designation • Canadian Securities Course (CSI)
- Canadian CFO license preferred
