 Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Precisely and accurately perform a variety of routine and specialized histology techniques and procedures, including specimen accessioning, grossing (prosecting), microwave tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, performing special stains, operating H&E autostainer, and operating instrumentation for immunohistochemical stains.
• Receive and accession tissue specimens and prepares specimens processing.
• Cut thin sections and stains according to established procedure for routine and special stains.
• Assist with FNA smears and stains slides for microscopic examination by the Pathologist.
• Assist Pathologists with grossing as required.

The Must Haves

• Associate of science or 60 semester hours with combined hours in science
• Functioning knowledge of anatomy, chemistry, physiology, and experience in enzymes, histo-chemistry and immunoperoxidase stains required.
• HT(ASCP) certification required or registry eligible.
• Two (2) years experience in an accredited anatomic pathology and cytology laboratory.
