Peoria’s Public Works Department has an excellent opportunity for an experienced traffic signal maintenance professional. We are currently recruiting for a Lead Traffic Signal Technician to provide technical advice and act as a lead to Traffic Signal Technician Specialists and Assistants to maintain City of Peoria’s growing inventory of 140 signalized intersections. The purpose of this position is to provide technical advice and act as a lead to Traffic Signal Technician Specialists and Assistants. This is accomplished by performing a wide variety of advanced and specialized duties, providing technical guidance, assigning and monitoring work, and assisting staff with complicated and difficult assignments. This position requires a rotation schedule for standby and on-call after-hours support, which includes evenings, holidays, and weekends. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• The ability to work within a team setting, or carry out assignments independently
• Leadership qualities with an emphasis on great communication skills to lead a crew of technically skilled workers in day to day operations
• Possess advanced technical skills and specialized knowledge to assist and lead the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals and equipment
• 4 years of experience in traffic signal maintenance (see Job requirements)
• The ability to work in extreme environments to service assets throughout the City
• A great attitude, and strong work ethic to succeed in the Streets Division
