Pipelayer
- Checking pipe alignment and sealing pipes with cement glue.
- You may also be required to remove old piping systems, seal joins, and install auxiliary lines.
- Skilled tradesman who lays pipe, such as for storm sewers, sanitary sewers, drains and water main.
- Also responsible for repairing and installing water lines sewer lines and water meters.
- Operates a variety of hand or power tools.
- Dig trenches when pipes need to be laid beneath the earth and cover the pipes once they are in place with dirt or other similar materials.
- Locate existing pipe around a property that needs to be removed by utilizing radio or magnetic indicators.
- Drill holes into a property’s pipeline to install auxiliary cables and other devices into the system.
- Making connections to lines including sewer lines, water lines and storm sewers.
- Laying sections of pipe and completing connections between pipe section
- Ability to operate heavy equipment to remove and replace soils and earth.
- Cut, fit, and seal various types of piping.
- Minimize disruption to customers by working incrementally and delivering finished sections in a timely manner.
- Install pipe in horizontal and vertical applications, and overhead and underground transmission cables.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must have knowledge on materials, tools, and processes involved with basic building techniques and form construction.
- Must be willing to work safely and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow all company and site rules and regulations.
- Employee will be required to long periods of time standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50lbs.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather work boots.
- Must have the ability to stand, crawl and kneel for long periods of time.
- Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
