Summary
Under general supervision of the District Court Administrator, the Assistant District Court Administrator performs a variety of administrative support and clerical court duties for the Hays County District Court. The duties involve the performance of specific operations that include analytical and clerical tasks and procedures. The product of the employee’s work affects the immediate staff of the department and requires the timely provision of services to others.
Position Duties
- Schedules cases on the court’s docket, including hearings, jury trials, and trials before the court.
- Assists with scheduling judges, attorneys, bailiffs and court reporters.
- Notifies concerned parties.
- Prepares and posts dockets.
- Records and enters data into computer.
- Prepares form letters.
- Assists customers in person or on the telephone.
- Responds to inquiries for information on cases and court procedures.
- Conducts research related to specific cases.
- Maintains civil dockets for the District Judges.
- Sets cases and maintains dockets for Family Law Judge.
- Answer inquiries concerning criminal cases.
- Any and all other tasks as assigned by a District Court Judge and/or District Court Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
Any equivalent combination of experience or training may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Requires High School diploma.
- Prefer some college or trade school in the area of business administration or secretarial.
- Requires three to five years of full time experience in secretarial, office or related work.
- Bilingual may be preferred (Spanish/English).
Other Qualifications
- Class C driver’s license.
- Notary Public may be required.
