What You'll Do:

We are seeking a Sr Director of Business Development in our Group Benefits division. In this role, you’ll lead critical initiatives that drive our growth and uphold our reputation for excellence. This role offers the chance to spearhead significant projects and influence decision-making processes within a leading insurance organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Absence Management strategy across mid/large markets, serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) and Disability. Manage the ComPsych relationship while supporting sales and retention through demos and strategic positioning.
  • Lead the Enrollment Support Team of specialists, delivering multi-format meetings to drive employee education and participation outcomes across both new business and renewals.
  • Support large-case sales through finalist presentations and strategic positioning, working closely with sales representatives and Client Relationship Consultants.
  • Engage in project work in our mid-market segment (100-499 employees), ensuring that our offerings are competitive and tailored to meet client needs.
  • Influence decision-making processes by providing strategic insights and recommendations that drive business growth and client happiness.

Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with 5+ years of related sales experience.
  • Must have appropriate Life & Health licensing.
  • Must have a deep knowledge of the business unit, including absence management
  • Outstanding planning, organizational, problem-solving, analytical, presentation, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven leadership skills, including time management and decision-making abilities.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with business unit applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Travel required (up to 50% of time), including overnight stays.
Salary Range Information:Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.Salary Range:$137000 - $185000 / yearTime Off Program:Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.Pension Eligible:YesAdditional Information:

Work Environment

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
