Position Summary


The NextGen Student Coordinator will support an integrated ministry that partners with parents and the broader church family to successfully launch children into a lifetime of faith in Jesus Christ. Being a part of a multisite church, the Menlo Kids Coordinator will need to have a strong collaborative nature and be able to work in a matrix organization. You’ll work closely with our  campus team and report directly to the Associate Families Pastor. In addition, you’ll collaborate with the Central NextGen team and other NextGen staff at a designated campus.


The NextGen Student Coordinator equips us for rapid growth and enables us to more fully invest in supporting volunteers, serving current families, and reaching our neighbors. The NextGen Student Coordinator will prepare materials and physically set up the classrooms each week. You’ll schedule volunteers, answer questions, and provide support to parents, families, volunteers, and lay-leaders. Our volunteers, children, and families come from a variety of backgrounds, so it is important that our NextGen Student Coordinator  feels comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people.


We are looking for a NextGen Student Coordinator who is proactive and can help us keep the ministry organized and on track. The NextGen Student Coordinator will need to be organized, relational, and handle change and unexpected surprises with grace. Our ideal candidate will have a servant’s heart, feel called to serve children and their families, and be willing to do whatever needs to get done to help the team. 


Essential Functions

  • Work as a cohesive unit with our team.
  • Work with campus staff to plan and execute events and services to reach our neighborhood (Easter, Serve Your City, Christmas Eve) and Menlo Kids specific events such as Summer Camp.
  •  Implement the NextGen Student Coordinator strategy that draws families into the church and launches children into a lifetime of faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteers and leaders.
  • Collaborate with the Central  Resource Coordinator to ensure all materials and supplies are ready for volunteers on Sundays.
  • Help prepare NextGen Students classrooms each week for safe and engaging experiences.
  • Schedule Students team leaders and volunteers for Sundays and be able to step into any area of Student Ministry, including welcoming families, checking children Students, facilitating large or small groups, coaching, or providing creative support with music, design, or tech.
  • Work with NextGen Students staff to ensure volunteers are screened, participate in mandated training, and maintain healthy boundaries.
  • Participate in Sunday programming and provide leadership to volunteers; create a hospitable environment, answer questions, articulate and clarify new processes and procedures, and support volunteers as needed.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting volunteer staff. Scheduling adequate coverage, ensuring safety, and providing a loving environment is key.
  • Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and intelligently delegate.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships by actively living out and championing our staff values of teamwork and being humble, hopeful, and gritty.
  • Additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Associate Family Pastor .

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  • College degree or 2-years’ experience in a youth ministry

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience overseeing and developing both staff and lay leaders in ministry 
  • Experience working in a church with multiple location.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to recruit, develop, identify, and multiply high-capacity volunteers
  • Experience working with people from different cultures
  • Strong theological foundation
  • Knowledgeable about student/youth ministry best practices
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Enthusiastic and high-energy leadership style
  • High Emotional Intelligence (EQ)
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Team player and team builder with a focus on the vision of the whole church
  • Proficiency with common office applications and collaboration tools including Google Workspace, Planning Center, Asana, and others; comfortable learning new technology, software, and applications 
  • Ability to speak effectively before small and large groups

Physical Demands

  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Walk, bend, twist, kneel, reach or those movements that would be experienced during while working with children
  • Hand/eye coordination and dexterity for small objects and office equipment.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

Work Conditions

  • This job regularly operates in a typical classroom setting with low tables, chairs, shelves, rugs, and toys.
  • This position occasionally operates in a professional office or church environment with standard office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, and telephones
  • Days and hours of work are generally business hours Sunday-Thursday with an occasional Friday, Saturday, or evening as needed.
