About the Department
The Louisville Recreation Center is currently seeking an energetic and positive Fluid Running Water Aerobics Instructor to lead our popular monthly session-based classes.
Class Details:
When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Format: Monthly session-based program
Bonus: Availability to substitute for other water fitness classes is a plus!

- Instruct members on effective workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises; identify different muscle groups, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles
- Observe students during class to correct form and exhibit excellent customer service
- Organize class structure using age and ability appropriated exercises
- Maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for class participants
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience and Education:
- Experience teaching water aerobics or other fitness classes preferred.
- Deep and shallow water instruction preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to project voice during instruction.
- Special License, Registration, or Certificate:
- Fluid Running certification or National Water Aerobic certification required or ability to obtain.
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain. Training and certification provided by City of Louisville Recreation Center as needed.
Other Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
Must be in good physical condition.
Instruction will primarily be conducted from the pool deck.
Must be able to swim and tread water.
This role requires frequent physical activity including standing, bending, reaching, sitting, lifting, jumping, swimming, pushing, pulling, and walking.
Regular use of hands and arms to handle or feel objects; ability to reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed.
May be required to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Must have the ability to see, hear, and communicate clearly and effectively.
Must be able to project voice loudly enough to be heard in a noisy pool environment.
Work Environment : Swimming pool, deep and shallow water, pool deck and surrounding area. Noise level is moderate to high.
