The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill two (2) vacancies for the classification of Utilities Assistant (Customer Service) in the Department of Utility Services. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status.**
Under direct supervision, performs entry-level and supportive duties within the Customer Service, Billing, and Collections section of the Department of Utility Services; provides clerical and administrative support to Customer Service Specialist I & II staff; assists with routine inquiries and account maintenance tasks relating to City utility services, and performs related duties as assigned.
Limited-Term Position Information:
Due to the implementation of a new Citywide initiative, the City of Henderson developed the Utilities Assistant classification to assist with job duties and tasks related to the project.
Candidates selected to fill these positions will be classified as full-time employees as defined in the Teamsters contract. However, the Utilities Assistant (Customer Service) positions are limited-term positions and are only approved through June 2028 at which time the Utilities Assistants will be removed from the staff complement. Individuals holding these positions at the end of the approved period will have rights as outlined in the “reduction in force” language in the Teamsters contract.

**NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.
Probationary full-time, part-time, temporary employees, and external candidates who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on separate list(s), which may be used to fill vacancies for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees, the separate list(s) may be utilized.

Position Duties
Graduation from high school or the equivalent
One (1) year of full-time work experience in performing general clerical or customer service duties involving direct contact with the public in an office setting
Skill in typing sufficient to type 25 net words per minute at the time of application
Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
Employee will be expected to complete assigned training courses through the City of Henderson's learning management system

Virtual Performance Examination (Weighted 100%) - Candidates will have a minimum of 48 hours to complete the virtual assessment. Invitations will be sent at the conclusion of the Keyboarding Examination.

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above.
