Description
Director of Catering & Special Events
Established in 1908, Houston Country Club is a widely recognized Platinum Club of America that is
home to over 1250 Houston families who annually host over 1,100 events at the Club. HCC has
recently completed an extensive renovation and expansion that provides its membership with an
experience unrivaled in the Texas market. HCC is currently looking to onboard a new Director of
Catering & Special Events to lead our current team as the Club plans and organizes for continued
success. This position will be pivotal in promoting the Club for member activities and social events as
well as developing new areas of member utilization. Our ideal candidate is a professional with

The Director of Catering & Special Events (DOC) leads and directs the activities of the Catering
Department. DOC is responsible for oversight of the Catering and Special Events operation including
planning and developing events with members and guests, member event promotion, menu
development, budget maintenance, and vendor relations. DOC utilizes available and appropriate
mediums of communication and resources to maintain and promote new business. Maintains
Catering software and program information. Keeps abreast of current trends within the industry,
maintains involvement in professional organizations and recommends appropriate actions that
benefit the long-term well-being of the department as well as HCC. As part of a select team, you will
work closely with the Food & Beverage Department, Finance Department, Executive Chef, Clubhouse
Manager.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Working with members and guests to organize and plan business and social events within the
- club
- Weekly organization and distribution of banquet event orders
- Communication and follow up to member inquiries
- Act as a liaison between the Catering office and other departments of the club, including golf,
- tennis, fitness, pool, kitchen and others
- Assists with developing marketing materials for Club events
- Liaison between Club and vendors
- This position reports directly to the Clubhouse Manager
Requirements
Candidate Qualifications:
- 5+ years quality experience in catering sales in a private club or similar upscale environment
- Demonstrated background of service excellence
- Personable, kind, detail oriented, self-motivated
- Ability to coach and develop a caring and professional team
- Strong working knowledge of food and beverage with the ability to speak confidently in menu
- planning and selection
- Firm grasp of catering software and ability to use various related and basic software programs
- Experience in budgeting and sales forecasting
- Four-year degree required, degree in Hospitality a plus
