Description
The Verland Foundation, Inc. is seeking a full-time, licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide skilled therapeutic and maintenance-based services to the individuals who live in our Intermediate Care Facility/ Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities in Sewickley. This OT may also provide intervention to our residents at the Intermediate Care Facility/ Other Related Conditions and Community Living Arrangements in the Pittsburgh area. The OT will provide services to individuals with significant physical and intellectual disabilities within the home and Adult Training Facility settings at TVFI. The OT may establish and carry-out therapeutic programming to maximize the client’s level of functioning and quality of life through direct client treatment, staff and family education, and interdisciplinary involvement.
Shifts available:
Full Time- 40 hours
8am-4pm: Monday thru Friday
Contributions:
- Demonstrates skill proficiency in all areas related to occupational therapy, including but not limited to: ADL and IADL task performance, sensory-motor integration and self-regulation, low vision, physical agent modalities, neuromuscular re-education, visual perception, issuing and educating on use of adaptive equipment and DME, upper-body splinting, wheelchair positioning and cognitive skills.
- Uses comprehensive evaluations to establish the OT plan of care, provides 1:1 client treatment, creates individualized home programs, trains all relevant staff on therapeutic recommendations and monitors client progress post-discharge.
- Competently supports care in a manner consistent with National and State regulations, including OT Practice Acts.
- Regular participation in onsite clinics, such as orthotics clinic, wheelchair clinic and physiatry clinic.
- Arrange skilled and maintenance-based OT services based on resident schedules and program requirements, and as per plan of care. The OT will work directly with Restorative Care Aides (RCAs) to oversee program progression and goals.
- Provides training, in-servicing and orientation to designated staff regarding OT approaches, techniques, methodology and other pertinent information as identified by the interdisciplinary team.
- Completes all necessary documentation such as 90-day reviews and procedures, annual assessments and observations in the Adult Training Facility and residences.
- Regular, consistent participation in the Interdisciplinary Team Process, including attendance at intermittent, annual and quarterly client meetings as needed.
- Initiate and monitor sensory-based programming.
- Assists in maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the therapy department. Cleans equipment and care areas per approved standards. May perform routine clerical support tasks, which may include daily logs, ordering supplies, and collection of department statistics.
- Participates in all infection control, regulatory compliance, and organizational safety and fire safety programs.

Requirements
- Doctorate degree, or equivalent, in Occupational Therapy.
- Current national board certification and PA OT licensure.
- 1+ years of OT experience with this client population is preferred.
- Familiarity and comfort level working with individuals who have severe to profound intellectual and physical disabilities.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems, email communication, word processing and spreadsheet software.
- On-the-job training is provided by the Habilitation Services Manager on various interdepartmental methods and procedures.
- Requires CPR and Basic Life Support certification through AHA within 6 months of hire.
- Must have Act 33 and Act 34 clearances.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
