Duties
Assists in removing, disassembling, and rebuilding diesel engines (15 to 5500 HP). Installs new parts, rebuilds fuel and water pumps, adjusts valve and fuel timing to restore engines to proper operating condition.,Disassembles and repairs marine transmissions and reduction gears. Replaces and adjusts transmission controls. Overhauls mechanical and automatic transmissions on tractors, excavators, and bulldozers.,Performs maintenance on bulldozers, cranes, and winches. Replaces tracks, rollers, cables, hydraulic hoses, brake and clutch linings. Adjusts components to restore equipment to proper working order.,Maintains and repairs 6, 12, 24, and 32-volt electrical systems. Removes and installs starters, alternators, batteries, and voltage regulators to restore units to normal operation.,Relieves watch standers during breaks and absences, maintaining engine room safety and operations. Assists Chief Electrician and Marine Equipment Mechanic as needed for repairs and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Heavy Mobile and Marine Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I can perform repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, cranes, and electrical systems; disassemble and rebuild parts; adjust equipment for proper operation. Work is under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
