General Statement of Duties: Technical position which performs a variety of duties involving installing, maintaining, testing and maintenance of the Town’s computer information systems including all computer workstations and peripherals, network equipment, telephone systems and software used by departments.
Supervision Received: Receives general instruction from the Director of Information and Communication Technology or designee.

Essential Job Functions: Responds to requests for assistance from system users; diagnoses and resolves operational problems using a variety of diagnostic tools; troubleshoots, analyzes and resolves simple to moderately complex problems, internal and internet e-mail systems and application problems; performs various diagnostic testing and maintenance on system hardware; install, configure, upgrade computer components, software and peripheral devices; maintain, install, and upgrade file servers and other network hardware; provide information system user support; respond to questions and inquires on various hardware and software issues; coordinate the repair and replacement of computer components related equipment; perform network administration functions such as maintain user accounts and password, assist in the installing, upgrading and maintaining servers, and troubleshooting and resolving network connectivity issues; install system upgrades as necessary; provide support in the operation of the telephone and voice mail system; provide support to Town supplied cell phones as necessary; perform system backups and maintain backup library ; regular and punctual attendance.
Other Job Functions: May be called in to work at the Town’s Emergency Operation Center (EOC). Performs related work as required; other duties as required.

Hand-eye coordination required operating computer and other office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Knowledge of network systems and network e-mail systems; knowledge of computer operating systems; knowledge of wireless networking technology including access and security; knowledge of methods and techniques of installing and maintaining network devices including switches, routers and hubs; considerable knowledge of data control functions; considerable knowledge of IT equipment and diagnostic tools; knowledge of systems analysis, design and development; technical problem-solving skills; logic and analytical skills; ability to install microcomputer hardware, software and network components; ability to have working knowledge of commercially packaged software to assist end users; ability to maintain records, logs, reports, documentation and manuals; ability to write, test and debug computer programs; ability to assist in disaster recovery; ability to work independently and in a team environment; ability to adapt to change; ability to prioritize; ability to communicate both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other divisions, departments and employees. Must have and maintain valid driver’s license.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field, and two (2) years of experience in technical support work including network systems, or work in a Help Desk function; or Associates degree in computer science, or related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in information technology operations, programming, network hardware/software installation, support, problem diagnosis and resolution. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
