- Model and coach culturally responsive, inclusionary instructional practices across K-12 classrooms.
- Support educators in helping students understand learning goals, monitor progress, and engage in reflection and goal setting.
- Contribute to systems that integrate social-emotional learning with academic instruction.
- Instructional Framework Alignment
- Lead implementation of the district’s K-12 instructional framework as a tool for reflection, feedback, and instructional growth.
- Provide coaching and professional learning aligned to the framework and district priorities.
- Content/Program Specific Leadership
- Guide content-area implementation of standards.
- Promote mastery-based learning by supporting the use of assessment feedback loops and equitable grading practices.
- Ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment and support high-quality, student-centered instruction.
- Assist teachers with instructional planning, modeling, co-teaching, and analysis of student work and data.
- Facilitate the review, adoption and implementation of Highly Capable program curriculum and instructional materials in collaboration with Student Learning and Highly Capable program staff.
- Facilitate vertical and horizontal articulation of curriculum and instruction within and across Highly Capable programs.
- Engage community resources to support the Highly Capable program as well as promote family engagement through the sharing of program information and resources with staff and the community.
- Collect, analyze, interpret and present program data to inform program needs, teacher support and professional development.
- Provide assistance to the Highly Capable Program department as needed.
- Will be responsible for leading curriculum adoption, implementation, and evaluation.
- Summer work outside of the contract days is required. Coaches are paid an hourly rate for their time.
- Professional Development & Collaborative Leadership
- Design and facilitate professional learning for individuals, teams, and full staff groups.
- Lead instructional teams that include K-12 teacher leaders focused on:
- Building shared understanding of instructional priorities
- Aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Scaling inclusive, student-centered strategies
- Implementing district-supported curricular technology tools
- Build leadership capacity across schools and PLCs to support sustained improvement.
- Eligibility for health insurance is based on whether the employee is anticipated to be compensated at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31). For the 2024-25 school year a .5 FTE continuing contract position will meet that eligibility threshold. Eligibility for a non-continuing contract position will be determined at the time of hire by counting the total anticipated compensated hours from the date of hire through the end of the non-continuing contract. - Eligibility for retirement is based on whether the employee is anticipated to work at least 70 hours per month for 5 months during the school year. For the 2024-25 school year a .6 FTE (either continuing or non-continuing) meets that eligibility threshold.

About the Position
This is a 1.0 FTE non-continuing leave replacement position for a Highly Capable Program Instructional Coach TOSA (Teacher On Special Assignment) for the 2025-26 school year ONLY.
Preference will be given to candidates that currently have an ELL, ESOL, or Bilingual endorsement. SIOP training and GLAD training offered by the Multilingual Education Department will be required for all new employees unless they can show evidence of having completed SIOP and GLAD training previously. Training will need to be completed within the first year of employment.
Aligned with the district’s Strategic Plan and commitment to equity, engagement, and excellence, the Highly Capable Program Instructional Coach serves as a K-12 systems leader focused on advancing depth and complexity, responsive, inclusive, and student-centered instruction. The coach will also work to support the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) that ensures all students receive the challenge, support, and access they need to thrive.
This role blends instructional leadership, professional development, and collaborative systems design. The coach will work with teachers, school leaders, and district teams to strengthen Tiered instruction, build collective educator capacity, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning with a focus on differentiated instruction for gifted students. The coach may be assigned to support one or more specific content areas.
Required Qualifications:
Washington State Teaching Certificate and at least five (5) years of teaching experience.

Salary:
2024-25 Salary Schedule Range: $80,136 through $143,159 (2025-26 Salary Schedule not yet finalized). Placement on this salary schedule is determined by FTE and official documentation verifying Educational Level and Certificated Work Experience and will be prorated for less than a full year and/or FTE.
