The Safety Technician is responsible for supporting a culture of safety by conducting comprehensive jobsite audits, facilitating safety trainings, and assisting in the implementation of safety programs. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices. The Safety Technician works closely with field teams, supervisors, and project managers to proactively identify risks and improve safety performance.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Jobsite Safety Audits

  • Conduct regular, unannounced inspections of active jobsites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

  • Complete detailed audit reports and communicate findings to site management.

  • Monitor use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper tool usage, and adherence to safety protocols.

  • Recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure resolution of safety violations.

  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis as needed.

2. Safety Training & Education

  • Lead safety orientation and training sessions for new employees and subcontractors.

  • Conduct toolbox talks and topic-specific safety trainings (e.g., fall protection, confined space, hazard communication).

  • Assist in the development of training materials and modules.

  • Maintain training logs and certification records.

3. Program Support

  • Assist with the implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and procedures.

  • Track and analyze safety performance metrics and trends.

  • Provide input on Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous materials handling.

  • Support emergency response planning and drills.

4. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure documentation is maintained in accordance with OSHA and company standards.

  • Maintain and organize safety documentation, permits, incident reports, and inspection records.

  • Stay current with federal, state, and local safety regulations.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a construction or field safety role.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safety best practices.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Confident and professional when speaking to crews and leadership.

  • Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobsite visits daily.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.


Work Schedule & Travel:

  • Full-time position; may require early mornings, late evenings, weekends, depending on site schedules.

  • Frequent travel to jobsite locations (local/regional).
