JOB TITLE: Superintendent
JOB CLASS: Salary, Full Time
JOB HOURS: 40 Hour Week, Typically M-F 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with variations to accommodate specific project requirements. Occasional overtime, night work, and weekend work as required.
SALARY: range $110,000 to $120,000
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Superintendent plays an integral role leading the daily coordination of field foremen and site crews on electrical, transportation, and roadway lighting projects. Will be required to implement company and regulatory safety regulations. Provide communication to central office and customers regarding schedule and resource management.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Skilled and technical work in the construction, installation, and repair of traffic signal systems, highway lighting, and other transportation related systems.
- Supervision and Training of all subordinate employees assigned to the project.
- Assist Project Manager with material ordering, scheduling, and utility locates.
- Complete and turn in required personal and project paperwork.
- Follow requirements for utility locates and permits.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Communications with customers and other contractors.
- Fulfill the company tool list requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining and renewing required certifications and licenses.
- Responsible for assigned company vehicle and typically report to work at the job site.
- Abide by all the company safety rules
- Wear proper PPE while on the job site and in the yard for lifting operations to include: Safety-toed work boots, safety vest, work gloves, and hard hat.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum six years of combined related experience
- Operates and performs basic field maintenance on all equipment including but not limited to; aerial lift/bucket trucks, trenchers, derrick/digger trucks, cranes, backhoes, trackhoes, air compressors, and concrete saw.
- Must be proficient at programming and setting up controllers, Conflict monitors / MMU’s, video detection, and communications equipment.
- Operates Gas torches (cutting and brazing).
- Must be proficient with basic and specialized hand tools and power tools.
- Must be familiar with VDOT & Local specifications & standards, Customer and Project specific specifications and standards.
- Must proficiently read plans and schematic diagrams.
- Must be proficient with advanced computer skills.
- Ability to efficiently supervise others, proficient problem solving, proper decision making.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to follow and transmit clear written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work at heights over 20 feet.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
