STUDENT ASSISTANT EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator, the Student Games Room Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination and general supervision of the Student Recreation Center (SRC) Intramurals Games Room. This role assists with daily operations, staff oversight, and event coordination to ensure a safe, organized, and engaging recreational experience for all participants.

 

JOB DUTIES:

·         Assists the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator with general supervision of the Games Room

·         Assists in the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of the Student Games Room Attendants

·         Generates, maintains, and monitors the Games Room budget tracker

·         Coordinates the ordering, receiving, and inventory of operational supplies and organizes backup documentation for purchases

·         Assists in developing and implementing ongoing plans for the Games Room, including but not limited to updates to video game selections, equipment maintenance, game console upkeep, work orders, and supply purchases

·         Coordinates staffing and logistics for special events held in the Games Room

·         Schedules and leads periodic Games Room staff meetings

·         Prepares and submits incident and injury reports to the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator

·         Monitors and upholds the Games Room’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures

·         Responds appropriately to a variety of emergency situations, including but not limited to medical emergencies and civil disturbances, and coordinates and/or executes emergency procedures as needed

·         Assists the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator by providing performance feedback for Student Games Room Attendants

·         Collaborates with the Strategic Marketing & Communications department to plan and implement merchandising strategies and tournament promotions

·         Assists the Reservations Manager with administrative and operational duties related to Games Room reservations

·         Facilitates participant check-ins and issues necessary equipment for game consoles, PCs, and billiards

·         Carries out key holder responsibilities, including managing access to the Games Room facility 

·         Acts as Student Games Room Attendant in the event of unexpected absences or to fill occasional vacancies in the schedule

·         Manages and oversees SRC Games Room Discord Channel, responding to questions, posting announcements, and monitoring user activity

·         Maintains cleanliness and organization of the front desk and surrounding service areas

·         Performs other related duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

·         Must be a currently enrolled CSUN student

 

EXPERIENCE

·         Previous related experience and/or specialized education required.

·         Previous related experience with eSports tournament platforms is a preferred

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

·         Must be able to attend mandatory in-person SRC and USU employee orientation and trainings

·         Must be able to attend monthly mandatory in-person staff meetings

·         This position is a sensitive position as designated by the CSU. SUPERVISION:

Supervision is provided by the Intramural Sports & Day Camp Coordinator

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily performed in a temperature-controlled office environment. Daily contact with members of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, administrators and guests, is required. In addition to regularly assigned work schedule, must possess an ability and willingness to work weekends, evenings, holidays, finals weeks, and during academic interim and break periods; must be flexible, adaptable, and readily able to adjust to changes in work environment.
