Essential Functions of Role:
This is a “hands on” non-production operation role. Meeting USDA, HACCP, GMP, and Company standards, and under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the functions of this role are to be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, rebuilds, and projects on all plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner with primary operational focus on Offal and Wastewater as indicated below.
Accountable For:
- Keep Clarifier Clean
- Operate Clarifier Back Pump as needed
- House Keeping Around Clarifier and in Back Pump House
- Monitor Clarifier Operation
- Manual Up Keep Cleaning of Roto Screens
- Monitor Trailers
- Monitor Vacuum Pump, Kemco, Air Compressor, and High-Pressure Pump Operation
- Monitor and clean Upper and Hallway Outside Offal Room
- Keep Floors Clean (Food and Associate Safety)
- Housekeeping in Upper Offal, Lower Offal, and Both Mechanical Rooms
- Monitor what is being dumped where (V-ram Versus Auger Dumper)
- Assist as needed when available to dump inedible that are dropped off in the Offal Room
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment in a timely, thorough, and efficient manner.
- Respond to line calls in a professional, safe, and timely manner. (Down equipment takes priority over all other responsibilities)
- Track parts usage and order replacement parts as needed within specified budget.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required for job role.

Physical Qualifications:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Must be able to physically perform the essential functions of the role as outlined.
- Must be able to twist, bend, reach, and sit for 8 hours or the duration of the shift, in a wet cold environment.
- Must be able to get underneath or mount equipment ranging from below grade (below floor level) up to 17 feet and in a confined space of 2’x 2’or larger to perform repairs and inspections (i.e., Stunner, IO Bird washer, elevated drives, Rotomatic, Schmidt Tumbler, etc.).
- Must be able to reach heights of 17’ to repair & / or inspect equipment.
- Must be able to physically perform continuous equipment repairs in a wet slippery environment for up to 10-12 hours per day.
- Must be able to physically perform equipment repairs in a slippery/uneven environment which includes but is not limited to sloped flooring, pitched flooring, steps throughout work areas, etc.
- Must be able to lift, tighten (“torque”) equipment up to approximately 70 pounds.
- Must be able to safely & efficiently make machine repairs in a seriously demanding, challenging, fast-paced, high pressure and tense atmosphere.
