SUMMARY OF POSITION

MNS is searching for a strategic Traffic Engineer who will support the growth of the Transportation department. This position will have the flexibility to either work predominantly remote / work from home or hybrid from one of our nine California offices. While our team is open to candidate location, applicants must be willing to work standard office hours (8am-5pm pacific time) to support our California-based projects. This person would own technical leadership related to transportation projects for public municipal or Caltrans clients, specializing in traffic design and electrical/ITS related work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Apply a broad knowledge of principles and practices to perform engineering design tasks for

electrical/ITS traffic projects from conceptual to final design, and planning/technical studies

• Ability to plan and design electrical and traffic signals related elements

• Ability to plan and design signing & striping, MOT, and other traffic design elements

• Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria

• Assist in the development of specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages

• Execute work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects

• Utilize a solid working knowledge of an entire project life cycle

• Prepare complete project documents, including plan, specifications, and studies

• Utilize a strong working knowledge of traffic design software tools

• Mentor and develop junior staff while providing valuable input into design Best Practices

• Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work among staff

• Assist in the preparation of scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments

• Assist with business development, client relations, and proposals to provide professional services

• Coordinate design activities and meetings between staff, subcontractors, and clients

• Complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines, identify

schedule and cost variances, and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action

• Completes other duties and projects as assigned


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited program

• California Professional Engineer (PE) OR Engineer in Training (EIT) with the ability to take the exam within one year of start date

• 4-12 years recent experience required in the traffic engineering field

• Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues.

• Valid California Driver License

• Exceptional oral and written communication skills

• Must be a self-motivated, innovative and resourceful.

• Knowledge of and experience using/teaching CADD/Design software


Annual Pay Range: $100,000 - $165,000/year
