About the Department
Primary responsibility is to provide water safety instruction to the Brooklyn Center Community Center pool patrons.
The Brooklyn Center Community Center is open 7 days a week from 8:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. At this time we are looking for candidates that can teach classes on Tuesday evenings, Thursday evenings, and mornings Monday-Thursday.Position Duties
- Teach skills in accordance with the American Red Cross and the Brooklyn Center Aquatics Program standards.
- Promote, teach and ensures the safety of all class participants,
- Completion of all progress reports, cards and Red Cross forms before the last class.
- Enforce and follow all facility policies, rules and regulations.
- Maintain current lesson plans.
- Lead swim lessons in a fun and engaging manner appropriate to the class demographic.
- Remain current in all certifications.
- Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 15 years old
- General knowledge of all swimming strokes
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
Desired Requirements
- Experience working with children
- Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, or Somali.
