Description:
The Global Program Leader (GPL), reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, is responsible and accountable for defining the asset strategy (including commercial pathways) starting at Candidate Selection. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and approach each challenge with a collaborative and transparent spirit.
Experience:
- 15 years experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with extensive knowledge of the drug development process appropriate for the stage of the program
- Advanced degree in science or business is preferred
- Demonstrated experience taking asset through NDA
- Proven ability to lead Development stage programs through to commercial
- Demonstrated cross-functional leadership skills, including effective communication and conflict management; strong ability to lead through influence
- Broad business/enterprise orientation
- Extensive experience leading programs in drug development
- Approaches challenges with a collaborative, nimble, transparent, optimistic, and constructive mindset.
Responsibilities:
For given asset(s)/program(s), the Global Program Lead is responsible for the development and execution of an overarching global program strategy. The GPL may lead all activities associated with an asset from Candidate Selection to the marketplace with full accountability.
- Full accountability and ownership of the Program Team in setting program vision, strategy, goals, priorities and long-term plans and schedules. Aligns cross-functional, cross-divisional project goals with Wave business needs and strategies.
- Links Program Team cross-functional sub-teams, such as the Clinical team, CMC team, Non-clinical Team, etc. to the Program Team through function-based sub-team leaders to execute according to the approved Program strategy, aligns and ensures transparency of all program-related activities.
- Reports on progress of projects, plans/plan changes, critical path, possible scenario and issues/risks/impact to Wave Leadership through internal or external Program reviews.
- Promotes organizational reputation by engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Proactively and regularly anticipates/identifies/monitors program risks before they transform into issues and develops contingency plans; proactively communicates program-related issues to senior executive management in a timely manner and manages issues to resolution.
- Proactively responds to the dynamics of a changing marketplace; directs adjustments in functional or cross-divisional plans in response to changes in strategic direction. Change management agent for the Program Team
- Consults key stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely project status and deliverable information to enable the organization to focus on key priorities and enhance its ability to deliver work (e.g., studies/projects) on-time and on-budget (including proficient use of systems to improve reporting or access to data).
